Job Details
The Biotransformation group in DMPK-BA is seeking a talented scientist to join our discovery metabolite ID team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical support to discovery-stage projects across therapeutic areas. They will develop custom in vitro assays to support unique project issues, and optimize analytical methods to analyze novel compound chemistries. The candidate will collaborate across various disciplines within AbbVie including DMPK, chemistry, and biology to support biotransformation. The scientist will be the primary point of contact to the project teams

Responsibilities:
- Independently design and conduct discovery-stage metabolite ID experiments, including in vitro incubations, sample preparation, data analysis, and report generation
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS systems
- Develop and optimize analytical methods in response to changing chemical landscape
- Communicate with project teams across therapeutic areas
Level will be based on education & years of experience.
Basic:
- Bachelor's or equivalent education in analytical chemistry, pharmacology, or related field with previous laboratory experience required
- Demonstrated experience with in vitro systems and LC-MS analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in managing multiple projects and priorities
- Works well within a team
Preferred:
- Experience with Thermo mass spectrometers (Orbitrap, Fusion, QExactive)
- Knowledge of drug metabolism pathways and metabolite ID data analysis
- Familiarity with MassMetasite/WebMetabase
