Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research will play a strategic role in designing and implementing health economics and outcomes research to ensure optimal market access, appropriate utilization and reimbursement attainment for Daiichi Sankyo portfolio of products in the US.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish Daiichi Sankyo as a preferred research partner for academic thought leaders, co-development/promotion partners and strategic managed markets customers by facilitating the acquisition of corporate expertise in Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR). Serve as a core member of cross-functional product commercialization and development teams to ensure the creation and implementation of optimal market access, HEOR strategies and tactics. Serve as an expert to inform Global Clinical Development, Global Medical Affairs, Global HEOR and DSAC colleagues on market trends in the utilization and importance of HEOR evidence for the US market.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and conduct Health Economics and Outcomes Research strategies and tactics that support successful commercialization of DSI products in the US. Partner with colleagues in global functions, US Marketing and Managed Markets to contribute HEOR expertise in the development of marketing, pricing and reimbursement strategies and policies. Serve as an advisor to the Pricing Committee as necessary. Provide input to clinical development and commercial planning activities. Ensure that appropriate price and reimbursement achievement estimates are utilized in product planning and forecasting activities.
  • Contribute and lead the development of formulary dossiers, interactive health economic and budget impact modeling tools, journal publications, conference abstracts/posters/slide sets, and direct to consumer and physician campaigns and detail aids. Assist in the design and implementation of processes to increase research efficiency and dissemination of HEOR messaging in brand promotion and commercial payer education activities. Establish a strong collaboration with external research partners and thought leaders to benchmark the success of Daiichi Sankyo against competitive companies' HEOR functions in order to ensure "Best in Class" performance.
  • Identify Patient Reported Outcomes and Economic endpoints for inclusion in clinical trials. Where appropriate, lead project teams responsibility for the development and validation of new PRO instruments. Partner with Patient Advocacy Organizations to design research projects to improve the quality of care and quality of life of patients and their caregivers.
  • Develop HEOR materials to support external communications with health care stakeholders. Accompany Medical/Health Outcomes Liaisons as necessary during strategic account presentations and/or research planning meetings to discuss health outcome research design and methodology issues and/or review product health outcomes data.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:
  • Doctoral or master degree in Health Economics, Pharmaceutical Administration, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Outcomes Research or similar discipline with additional training in Health Economics/Outcomes Research; PharmD with additional training in Health Economics/Outcomes Research fellowship.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred, relevant experience in contract research organizations or academic medical centers etc. will be considered
  • Previous experience in Oncology preferred
  • Previous experience in interacting with HTA agencies and US payer groups is a positive consideration
  • Previous experience in economic modeling, econometrics and/or database analysis is a positive consideration
  • Previous experience in clinical research, pharmaceutical marketing or market research is a positive consideration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Technologies; (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, time management, ability to work within a cross-functional team; ability to multi-task; demonstrated ability to influence without authority; demonstrated ability to prioritize; strong negotiation skills; firm grasp of knowledge of US health care system and pharmaceutical industry; collaborative approach to problem solving. Individual will be responsible for developing working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Strong research design and methodology skills, economic modeling and statistical analysis is required
  • Efficiency with SAS and similar programs preferred
