Job Details

We are looking for a top tier experienced Leader in our Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) group to lead our global Industrial Hygiene Programs. The successful candidate will:

• Be responsible for the continuous improvement of all industrial hygiene programs across sites

• Lead the Industrial Hygiene center of excellence team

• Provide expert level assessment support at Amgen sites globally

• Improve understanding of Industrial Hygiene concepts at international sites

• Provide IH support for new facilities and projects as part of EHS Design Review

Primary responsibilities include:

• Development, advancement and implementation of the industrial hygiene strategy

• Advancing core industrial hygiene programs to manage EHSS risks including;

Exposure Risk Assessments

Chemical Hygiene

Hazard Communication

Biosafety Management

Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation and personal protective equipment

Radiation

Indoor Air Quality

Temperature Extremes

• Leads Biosafety and Industrial Hygiene committees to drive alignment and program advancements

• Cross functional resource as Industrial Hygiene Subject Matter Expert

• Provide recommended exposure control strategies for all areas of the business

Up to 40% travel both domestic and international

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

OR

Bachelor's degree or and 8 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills; have a strong understanding of industrial hygiene principles and a proven track record in maturing programs and processes. The ability to collaborate cross functionally and to influence management across many functions. Including:

• Master's degree & 10 years of experience in EHSS supporting industrial hygiene

• Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological manufacturing and laboratory operations.

• Strong leadership and team building skills

• Process driven with a strong Operational Excellence mindset

• Strong communication and presentation skills, action oriented, self-starting, program development and project management

• Strong technical writing skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems

• 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry leading industrial programs

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

• Experience implementing and supporting industrial hygiene programs internationally

• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and influence management

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate cross functionally.
