Job Details

The SAM Process Analyst will be a dynamic part of an expanded Software Asset Management (SAM) team within Amgen's Global Business Services (GBS) organization. The SAM Process Analyst will support SAM governance and software optimization initiatives across the enterprise, with the opportunity to develop and implement recommendations for improvements. Responsibilities may shift from project design / transition activities to "steady state" activities as well as other areas in GBS as needed by the organization. The incumbent will work out of the Amgen Capability Center located in Tampa, Florida.

The SAM Process Analyst should be a self-starter with excellent information gathering and process analysis capabilities to use in assessing, recommending, and implementing SAM improvements across: Amgen processes, SOPs, Policy documents, FAQs, playbooks, templates, and Training material.

The incumbent should have a deep understanding of SAM control points throughout the software life-cycle to drive improved software governance and optimization.

Governance responsibilities include:
  • Define governance requirements and stakeholders
  • Communicate and rollout governance and/or process improvements
  • Calendar governance meetings with documented agenda
  • Publish meeting minutes including detailed action items
  • Define monitoring process
  • Conduct monitoring and determine adherence
  • Establish exception handling guidelines, escalation guidelines, and any other operational controls which would promote process adherence


Many of these tasks will require working with outsourced service providers (and their tools) during project design activities as well as during "steady state". The incumbent will identify, measure, and assess key performance metrics to ensure the SAM processes are working properly and to recommend and implement corrective measures. A focus on performance metrics delivery and development of continuous improvement actions will be important success criteria for the SAM Process Analyst. They will be required to attend, facilitate, and/or lead meetings of cross functional IS and service provider attendees.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of directly related experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of directly related experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong business, process, and problem analysis skills
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Direct experience with SAM tools and typical integrations such as Flexera, SCCM, Tanium, and ServiceNow
  • Experience governing, monitoring, and analyzing IS / cross functional services
  • Ability to work within and across multiple Amgen teams
  • Project a positive, "can do" attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives and project activities as needed and requested
  • 5+ years of direct experience in software asset management
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard software license models, software contracts, and SAM best practices
  • Thorough understanding of software lifecycle from acquisition through disposition, including industry standard control points
  • Superior ability to work in a self-directed, forward thinking manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands
  • Able to organize and schedule tasks, develop realistic action plans incorporating time constraints and task priorities
  • Demonstrates ability to successfully negotiate with clients
  • Regulatory processes and controls experience
  • ITIL Certification
