Drug Product Development is responsible for understanding the biopharmaceutical properties of candidate molecules for translation into the design and development of patient centric dosage forms. We have a challenging opportunity for a Senior Scientist based in the Formulation Sciences group in North Chicago, IL

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative scientist to guide the design and characterization of innovative pharmaceutical formulations for pre-clinical and clinical applications
Key responsibilities include:
- Interface with Discovery and Development project teams to aid the identification of new drug candidates Design and characterize novel pharmaceutical formulations Collaborate with preclinical scientists to characterize the biopharmaceutical properties of drug candidates Conceive and execute laboratory studies contributing to design and understanding of oral formulations in clinical and pre-clinical development
Level will be based on education & years of experience.
Basic:
- PhD and no experience necessary (PhD required)
- possesses thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of physiological barriers to intestinal absorption of small molecules, including potential transport and metabolism pathways.
- Strong knowledge in the characterization of the biopharmaceutical properties of small molecules.
- Working knowledge of typical formulation approaches and routes of administration across multiple species.
- Fundamental understanding of physicochemical properties as related to drug delivery and formulation design.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional team setting.
