Summary:
The Director, ECD Strategy and Execution, will partner with the Vice President, ECD, to identify, lead and drive advancing ECD wide initiatives with the leadership team and to partner with the team on optimizing and driving execution of ECD-related deliverables. This role will help ensure initiatives being led by, or impacting, ECD are appropriately surfaced, prioritized, resourced, and executed. This role will also drive more alignment, awareness and understanding of ECD initiatives across the ECD LT and ensure that the VP and his LT are focusing in on the most critical items to drive business success. With the expanding depth and impact of the Early Clinical Development organization, this position will require strategic thinking around key operational issues, capabilities, organizational processes and procedures, and communication; while enabling effective planning and execution. The incumbent will also work with the VP, ECD and LT to identify key cross-functional interdependencies and optimize those working relationships and routines. In addition, the role will work with the VP, ECD and LT in partnership with HR on issues related to culture and talent development. This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring a nimble thinker with strong interpersonal skills, business acumen and the ability to shift between diverse priorities adeptly.
Job Duties:
• Act as a key thought partner and trusted advisor to the Vice President of Early Clinical Development and the leadership team, identifying initiatives, brainstorming & identifying solutions to challenges. Regularly creates and prioritizes key activities for the VP, ECD based on business priorities.
• Identify, prioritize and advance Early Clinical Development initiatives and key execution deliverables across the portfolio; monitor progress and communicate updates to internal teams and external stakeholders as appropriate. Coordinate and optimize the quarterly/annual planning processes.
• Identify, support analysis and interpretation and report on key metrics for ECD - measures how ECD is executing against its strategy and priorities.
• Manage and set the Early Clinical Development leadership team agendas, ensure effective meeting facilitation, action management and follow up. Identify, manage and coordinate the ECD LT cross functional process- improvement and business initiatives. Ensures that distillation of key metrics, achievements, issues, risks, mitigation plans are on the LT's radar screen.
• Deliver and coordinate the ECD department meeting strategy, plan and implementation. Includes preparation of all ECD wide communications that are not supported by Corporate Communications.
• Is part of the regular ECD workforce/headcount, space planning activities, and other finance related ECD processes to identify trends and actions from the data review and discussion.
• Partner with Human Resources to support talent acquisition, onboarding, talent development and departmental optimization by identyfing opportunities for increased engagement and productivity.
• Build a thorough understanding of all core business functions of the organization and apply that knowledge to effectively manage strategic and tactical initiatives consistent with corporate and Early Clinical Development objectives. Identifies, optimizes and codifies key ECD departmental processes.
• Work proactively with the leadership team and key internal stakeholders to help execute the brand of Early Clinical Development organization
• Drives effective communications and execution within ECD and with key stakeholders across REGN.
• Interface management: Act as representative for VP, Early Clinical Development in appropriate meetings to gather information, provide input and facilitate efficient decision making. Ensures communications, processes and resources aligned across organizations.
• Provides updates and distills key outcomes.
• Manages the administrative staff of ECD
Requirements:
• Deep technical understanding of translational and early clinical development and project /resource management
• Strong initiative with the ability to manage projects of varying complexity and timelines simultaneously.
• Ability to dive into departmental or cross functional operational issues, identify root cause, and propose solutions
• Effective leader with strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust, influence and relationships
across a large and diverse organization.
• Strong ability to toggle quickly between strategy and details
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong communications skills, written and verbal, including the ability to summarize complex issues concisely.
• Ability to prioritize self and others on the most critical activities to advance ECD work and for patients
• High standards of excellence and attention to detail.
• Self-starter who identifies and helps solve problems and is comfortable with ambiguity.
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in a science related area is a minimum; MS, MD or PhD is preferable
Experience
• 10 - 15 years of science, drug development and project management experience is required.
