Job Description

This individual will be part of drug discovery/ drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics group focusing on the data mining to understand the PK properties of potential new drug molecules.

General Position Summary/Purpose:

· Work closely with an experienced DMPK team representative on a research project
  • Will learn the fundamental of in vivo PK studies, including preparation of study protocols, data analysis and data uploading.
  • Utilize Microsoft office excel to improve our current study protocol preparation, data analysis and reporting workflow
  • Will be exposed to numerous pre-clinical DMPK assays

· Learn QC, and upload data generated by in vivo PK group into database

Value to Pharmacyclics:

· Develop an Excel program to improve our PK study protocol preparation, bioanalytical data summary, PK data analysis and data uploading workflow.

· Develop a database to capture all in vivo PK and PK/PD studies together with preclinical data.

Value to the Intern:

· Learn basic pharmacokinetic principles and parameters

· Become familiar with Phoenix WinNonlin (PK analysis software)

· Gain marketable exposure and skill set in the pharmaceutical industry

Qualifications (Knowledge / Skills / Abilities):

· Currently enrolled in M.S or Ph.D. program in bioinformatics, computer science, or related field

· Candidates must have working knowledge of Microsoft excel and be able to work independently with Microsoft excel.

· Excellent academic achievement and analytical ability

Education Requirements:

· Sophomore or higher that is a current college student or recent college graduate who is studying/has studied coursework in biology, and computer science

· Enrolled in an accredited US University/School

· Prefer candidate that is working towards or earning a basic science degree

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)

· Ability communicate well with others

Final Presentation

Each Intern is expected to prepare a short presentation to their team to share what they have learned through their internship and how they hope their new knowledge will be applied to their future. Presentations should be 5-10 minutes long and should include visual aid (posters or PowerPoint).
