Job Details

Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a motivated individual with experience in immunology, cell biology or related field to support our Cancer Immunotherapy group. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimization and execution of engineered lymphoid differentiation protocols, including CAR-T cells, from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) as well as functional assessment of iPSC-derived CAR-T cells in vitro. The successful candidate must have extensive experience with mammalian cell culture. This is a full-time position reporting to a Senior Scientist in Cancer Immunotherapy, and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct focused screening assays to optimize the differentiation of iPSCs to lymphocyte products utilizing flow cytometry, proliferation and cytotoxicity assays
  • Engineering of various cell types, including lentiviral transduction of primary T cells
  • Deliver results in a multidisciplinary team environment that includes collaborations with top research laboratories and institutes
  • Expansion and cryopreservation of iPSC derived and primary CAR-T cells
  • Detailed experimental design, record keeping, protocol writing and data interpretation
  • Presentation of data to project group and larger multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

  • B.S. / M.S. in immunology, cell biology, developmental biology or related field with 3 to 5+ years of laboratory experience in academia, and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience in cell culture techniques, flow cytometry, in-vitro immunoassays (activation, cytotoxic killing, cytokine release, migration)
  • Experience with small molecule screening and biochemistry is desirable
  • Understanding and experience with iPSC and/or CAR-T cell technology is a plus
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), time management, record keeping and data analysis skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute in a goal-oriented team

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
  • Occasional weekend and/or evening hours required
  • 100% on site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
