AbbVie is investing heavily in a new research enterprise in Cambridge, Boston - the Foundational Neuroscience Center (FNC). The FNC will investigate the fundamental biological mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative disease, especially Alzheimer's disease.

AbbVie is seeking an innovative, motivated Scientist with prior experience working in neurodegeneration disease models to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team at the FNC. This individual will be responsible for executing and interpreting ex vivo data from animal model studies to support discovery and preclinical Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ex vivo analysis of animal model tissues from in vivo pharmacology studies to support Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease projects
  • Working closely with team members to design and execute in vivo experiments with biochemical endpoints
  • Responsible for data collection, interpretation/analysis and presentation as needed

Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • BS in Neuroscience or related field with 5-7+ years of academic or industry research experience; MS with 2-5+ years of experience
  • Requires proficiency with basic ex vivo assay techniques such as protein extraction, qPCR and/or western blot
  • Prior experience with ELISA / MSD assay preferred, but not required
  • In vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (iv, ip, po, etc.) and tissue harvest preferred
  • Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and across sites, and within academic and biotech collaborations
