The Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager will drive world class EHSS performance across the site in a biotech research environment. The role will be responsible for the execution of key EHSS processes including:
o Continuous improvement of industrial hygiene (IH) across site
o Trending and analysis of EHSS information and provide data intelligence and actions
o Provide IH support for new facilities and projects as part of EHS Design Review
o Provide subject matter expertise for several EHSS programs including IH, industrial safety, contractor safety
Primary responsibilities include:
o Support laboratory clients with input from other EHSS subject matter experts at the site and from within the Amgen R&D community.
o Partner with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHSS risks
o Analyze metrics and establish annual action plans to drive continuous improvement.
o Establish and execute risk assessment plans for clients to ensure all risks are proactively addressed and control systems are implemented and maintained
o Ensure all changes with potential EHSS impact are assessed and controls are established prior to implementation
o Ensure all hazards are identified and risks are proactively assessed
o Establish safe work procedures for hazardous work
o Conduct regular inspections of the work areas
o Monitor incident trends and assist management in conducting incident investigations to implement robust corrective actions to prevent future incidents and injuries
o Conduct regular EHSS management reviews with Client Leadership
Master's degree and 3 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
Associate's degree and 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
High school diploma / GED and 12 years pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
o 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
o Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
o Experience implementing and supporting industrial hygiene programs including chemical, biosafety and radiation safety
o Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and influence management
o Strong communication and presentation skills, action oriented, self-starting, program development and project management
o Strong technical writing skills
o Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems
