Medical Affairs at Regeneron
The Associate Director, Medical Operations Portfolio & Systems will be responsible for all finance-related aspects of multiple projects/programs such as the Investigator-Initiated (IIS) Studies Program, Collaboration Studies, Registries, Compassionate Use Programs, and Phase 4 studies led by Medical Affairs. Systems support is an additional responsibility of this function and includes both ensuring timely/accurate data collection and entry, as well as systems and report building. Based on team assigned, this role may include supervision of staff. Additionally, the incumbent will support MA projects, as requested.

Job Duties:
Program management activities: Has financial reporting responsibility across multiple projects/program(s) with minimal direction: IIS, Pre-Clinical Collaborations, Sample Analysis Studies, Collaboration studies, Compassionate Use, Data Transparency, Ph4 Registries, RWE HEOR Studies, and Company Sponsored Ph4 Interventional Studies.
Proposal Management: Responsible for the appropriate analysis and documentation of Fair Market Value for all proposals requesting financial support, across multiple projects/program(s) against benchmarking standards. This includes: providing teams with acceptable ranges for budget negotiations, assessing the feasibility of providing financial support for new areas, and is responsible for granting final approval of negotiated budgets.
  • Meetings & Committees:
    • Facilitates monthly/quarterly reconciliation meetings with medical operations product teams ensuring expectations are clearly communicated for meeting prerequisites, and intention and goals of each meeting.
    • Contributes to various meetings with Accounting, Finance, Project Management, and Systems owner/supporters, as needed.
    • Participates in team review meetings, product team alignment meetings, and program budget & status update meetings as needed.
  • Budget Management
    • :Responsible for maintenance of portfolio and program budget trackers for each molecule/activity, ensuring all communicated actuals and accruals are captured, projections are reforcaseted as necessary, and brand give back are fully assessed.
    • Consolidates financials for quarter and reports to Accounting & Finance, and responsible for ensuring issue resolution for all discrepancies.
    • Oversees FMV activities and provides guidance to team when escalated.
    • Contributes to yearly trends analysis and annualized budget planning, ensuring budget proposals are vetted at the product team level before submitting to management.
  • Drug Supply:
    • Responsible for receiving annual drug projections (COGs), as well as planned spend for packaging labeling and shipments. Will maintain financial tracking of drug related costs throughout year and assist with annualized planning based on trends for upcoming years.
  • Metrics & Reporting:
    • Responsible for ongoing analyses, tracking and reporting of projects/programs support, timelines for completion, expected or assessed delays, solutions for streamlining processes for greater efficiency, and other related metrics in support of program activities.
  • Contracting:
    • Works closely with Medical Operations team to review and approve contracted milestone payments and ensuring study projections are aligned per contract.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Supports the Medical Operations team offering tracking of vendor financial payments as needed or required.
  • Essential Documents:
    • Ensures appropriate archiving of projects/programs specific FMV benchmarking tools, FMV analysis for each study, and any supporting documentation for justification of fees.
Systems Management: Utilizes appropriate systems to contribute to cross-functional communication, planning and transparency, including but not limited to:
  • Responsible for ongoing data capture into Project software (COMPASS), ensuring complete data files, correct template usage, field activation, and resource algorithms are allocated as appropriate. QC of data and oversight of report generation responsibilities as required.
  • Review submitted data within the ERRS portal to run financial reports and updates per program
  • Ensures ongoing QC of SharePoint financial document storage for completeness and audit readiness.
  • Expertise required in the utilization of QlikSense, QlikView, SharePoint, Oracle and ERRS portal to support team needs.
Process: Adheres to all relevant processes, trainings, and SOPS to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Continued process improvements to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance.

Organizational goals: Development of objectives to quantify success and attainment of goals. Ensures optimal structure, procedures, and adequate resources supporting growth of multiple projects/programs. Knows when to escalate issues and involve senior levels of management to obtain adequate resolution.

Alliance Management: Ensures financial transparency and alignment with both Alliance and internal stakeholders, supporting the product team financial reviews.

People Management (if applicable): Management of direct reports, trainings as deemed necessary, workload distribution for optimal effectiveness, performance against defined goals and expectations, and support for individual growth. Uses discretion when determining: who (if anyone) to assign specific team deliverables to. Guidance is typically needed by direct reports for success.


  • Requires minimum BA/BS degree in a related field preferably.

  • 12+ years of "progressive" industry/relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years active work experience in the area of finance and/or accounting in pharmaceutical and/or biotech company(ies) and experience or courses pertaining to finance and/or accounting functional areas
  • Incumbent must have track record of working well in a dynamic environment, must be self-motivated, able to work with a limited amount of supervision after the initial on-boarding period and enjoy working with different stakeholders.
