Summary
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for a knockout mouse phenotyping target discovery and validation pipeline. The pipeline uses genetically modified mice to evaluate therapeutic potential of both novel and validated disease targets and identify promising leads for follow up. The person in this role will be responsible for identifying cell types, expression patterns and morphological phenotypes in all tissues, and preparing data for presentation and database entry. This person will also be responsible for developing and implementing new histology assays, including visualization and quantification of intracellular components and adapting new techniques for automation.

Responsibilities

• The person in this position will be responsible for tissue dissection, sectioning, staining and histological analysis of phenotypes

• This person must be able to identify and documentation expression patterns and phenotypes in multiple cell types and tissues, requiring regular use of microscopy (bright field and fluorescent) and data base entry.

• Effective communication of data and preparing slides for presentation is essential.

• The person in this role must be organized, able to manage their own work flow and consistently meet weekly deadlines.

• This person will be responsible for training others in the company in histology and imaging techniques.

• This position will also involve testing and integration of new technologies and assays, both to streamline and add to the pipeline, while maintaining high levels of data integrity and reproducibility.

Requirements
Core Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelors degree with 2-5 years lab experience
- Experience in histological techniques, including cryo and paraffin sectioning, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization.
- General knowledge of functional anatomy
- Solid knowledge in microscopy, including muti-channel fluorescent visualization
- A background working with mice is essential, including perfusion and mouse handling expertise.
- Pior experience in fields such as genetic modeling, neurology, developmental biology or tumor modeling is preferred but not required.
Other requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger project
- Experience with data entry, databases and excel.
