Due to a strategic commitment to the growth of biotherapeutics within the Lilly portfolio, multiple opportunities are currently available within the Drug Delivery and Connected Solutions (DDCS) organization. This group is a multidisciplinary organization focused on the development and commercialization of patient centered drug product and delivery device systems utilizing both internal and external technologies.

This role provides scientist the opportunity to evaluate new formulation and device strategies for exosome drug delivery. You will conduct studies to build in vitro, in-vivo and biological understanding needed to optimize nanoparticle delivery systems. You will apply expertise in various aspects of drug delivery to understand the impact of drug, formulation and device system properties on drug delivery to enable development of innovative drug products for targeted delivery.

The responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Conduct inter-disciplinary, cutting edge research in understanding and developing delivery solutions of exosome nanoparticle delivery to enable commercialization.
  • Design and execute experiments to understand the impact of device and formulation parameters for exosome delivery on drug product quality, injection physiology and patient experience.
  • Work effectively in device engineering teams to innovate and evaluate new delivery and device technologies for exosome drug delivery.
  • Collaborate with packaging and materials engineering teams to design and develop container closure systems to meet the design requirements for exosome drug delivery.
  • Partner with drug formulation teams to develop understanding of formulation and device impact on drug stability, container closure functionality, device performance and reliability.
  • Keep abreast of relevant new technologies / capabilities and regulatory initiatives / requirements.
  • Authoring of technical reports, journal publications and regulatory documents

Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related science and engineering disciplines

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Experience in nanoparticles drug delivery including exosome, liposome and virus like particles.
  • Knowledge of gene and cell therapies
  • Ability to independently design and execute experiments
  • Basic knowledge of statistics
  • Demonstrated technical / scientific leadership skills; applied to problem-solving
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment
