Data Lake Operations Manager

US Commercial Patient Services - Business Technology Solutions (BTS) group setup its Commercial Data Lake platform to support AbbVie's Humira Complete and other Patient Support programs. Based on the value realized from the Data Lake and in alignment with trends in industry, US Commercial BTS has strong desire to evolve the Data Lake to support other strategic priorities such as Digital Transformation, Winning with Data, VBE, V4RW and ARC that are beyond Patient Support program.

The role of "Data Lake Operations Manager" will align closely with the existing Data Lakes team within Patient Services BTS and collaborate with various Commercial BTS/Business functions to conceptualize and streamline operational processes, establish overall governance, implement tools/automations and expand Data Lake operations seamlessly with minimal disruption to current operations.

This role is geographically located in Lake County (USA). This role will work in cross collaboration with Commercial patient services, BTS functional leads, Commercial Analytics and Operations partners, Enterprise teams and Service providers such as AWS, Cloudera and more.

Responsibilities:

Operations

• Leads the Data Lake Operations team to deliver accurate, reliable, and timely data deliverables and operational support across key stakeholders in Commercial BTS, Patient Services, HEOR, Commercial Analytics and Partners that utilize the Commercial Data Lake ecosystem
• Establishes a governance model to track and report on-going change requests and operational metrics/KPIs to Senior Leadership regarding Commercial Data Lake and takes decisions to successfully enable business processes that depend on the Data Lake
• Collaborates and baselines SLAs for different deliverables produced from the Commercial Data Lake and stands accountable for delivery based on the agreed SLAs
• Ensures cluster stability, Support product management, architectural activities related to Commercial Data lake clusters.

• Directly engages with Senior Leadership and teams in resolving Data Lake issues and responding to business questions within reasonable timeframe
• Tracks and reports budget and actual spend on a periodic basis to ensure any deviations are identified on time and necessary resolutions are implemented to ensure AbbVie is getting the appropriate data, services, and support per plan;

Evolution

• Drives overall vision and strategy for advancing Commercial Data Lake Infrastructure Ecosystem and Operating Model, to ensure the necessary on-going capabilities for AbbVie's emerging capabilities in digital transformation and Big Data are successfully deployed
• Continuously reviews and guides revision of existing processes to manage transition of build engagements to operations within the Data Lake ecosystem
• Anticipates demand and secures appropriate budgets to support the Data Lake based on current and future business needs.
• Partners with AbbVie Enterprise teams to implement necessary changes identified as part of the long-term Commercial/Enterprise Data Lake synergy roadmap
• Collaborates with Enterprise teams and External partners / vendors to provide regular updates, data education and training across the Commercial organization.
• Drives AbbVie's Culture and Ways of Working to maximize team's impact and sustainable employee engagement.

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in software engineering, business, information systems or discipline closely related to the client area served
• 7-10 years overall experience
• Possesses ability to work on multiple requests in parallel by setting priorities, working independently, leading problem resolutions and functioning as part of a team that performs well under pressure.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and superior communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to understand the commercial environment and business needs and translate to workable solutions
• Proven success in managing external vendors
• Proven project management skills, including ability to lead in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders and functions
• Results oriented technology leader with significant experience in managing complex operations, meeting SLAs and systems infrastructure
• Hands-on experience operating Hadoop and Big Data environment comprising of technologies like Apache Hadoop, Hortonworks, Cloudera, etc.
• Familiarity with NoSQL, R/Python, AWS native cloud services like S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS a plus
