Scientist - Bioanalytical & Biomarker Mass Spec

Summary
The Therapeutic Proteins Department is seeking a PhD level Scientist to join our Bioanalytical & Biomarker Technology group. This position will support the discovery and characterization of new drug targets within complex biological matrices using quantitative mass spectrometric technology. This position will also support the elucidation of the structure and epitope of our candidate antibodies using mass spectrometry. The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry techniques, thrive in a team environment and be highly motivated by the opportunity to play a key role in the discovery of new therapeutics.

Responsibilities
Provides expertise to projects requiring mass spectrometric quantitation and/or characterization of target proteins and therapeutic antibodies; Designs and conducts analytical experiments and analyzes mass spectrometry data; Documents experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook; Presents work at group and department meetings; Contributes in the writing of technical reports, SOPs, and analytical method protocols, etc; Organizes data in high-quality presentation form (graphs, figures, tables, etc.) to support regulatory submissions and peer-reviewed publications; Stays current with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technologies and assesses the potential for applying these technologies toward our antibody discovery and characterization platforms.

Requirements
PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field in a mass spectrometry laboratory; 0- 4 years of post-graduate experience applying mass spectrometry to the characterization of biological macromolecules, especially in the areas of protein structural analysis and quantitative proteomics; Extensive experience with mass spectrometry data analysis using various software packages including Proteome Discoverer and PEAKS; Ability to write short custom scripts for mass spec data analysis in Python/Perl/Excel Macros is highly desired. Strong organization, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; Enjoys and thrives working in a collaborative, team environment; Passion for learning, developing and implementing new technologies to advance therapeutic antibody discovery.
