Sr. Accountant

The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager. This position will be a key player in the accounting department and will have first-hand responsibility for the Company’s quarterly SEC filings and significant involvement with the rest of the day-to-day accounting operations, financial close, reporting processes and technical research projects.  The work environment will consist of a mixture of independent work, team and cross-functional interactions.

Accounting Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of this position include:

• Working with the Director of Accounting, prepare quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K filings and related support for external auditors
• Execute monthly/quarterly accounting close procedures and deliverables including journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliation and fluctuation analysis over key accounts and maintaining GAAP compliance
• Prepare journal entries to record monthly activity produced from fair value investments, receivables and subsequent cash receipts
• Prepare other regular financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare technical accounting memos and in-depth analysis/reconciliations in connection with financial statement audit
• Participate and support the maintenance of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements with external SOX auditors
• Participate in the implementation of changes in policies, procedures and systems.
• Support annual audits and quarterly reviews from external auditors
• Assist with special ad-hoc projects, research and supplemental reporting as needed

Position is hands-on and you will be working alongside with the Accounting Manager and the Director of Accounting to meet Accounting/Finance objectives.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting operations
• Minimum of a BA, CPA preferred
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404 compliance
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills are required
• Proven success working well under pressure, highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work in an environment with continued process improvement and change 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetSuite
• Biotechnology industry experience
• Experience in interactions with external auditors (internal control/SOX auditors, external financial auditors)
• SEC Reporting experience
