AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company , is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

The Senior Director, Regional Marketing APAC will be a key member of the AveXis APAC regional team. The successful candidate will be dedicated to support the successful launch of a near term product candidate. They will work collaboratively with other key functions to ensure a successful launch of our gene replacement therapy candidate in the APAC region, including leading the regional brand planning processes. Individual will serve as a key interface to peers in medical affairs, clinical, manufacturing, HEOR, and regulatory affairs functions, providing commercial guidance for scientific communications, trial design and footprint, country sequencing, and labeling.

The Senior Director, Regional Marketing APAC will oversee AveXis' APAC regional marketing functions, including HCP, consumer, digital, and market access roles within AveXis. The successful candidate will create an environment that is highly motivated and engaged to work together and cross functionally to deliver exceptional results and ensure long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a cross-functional, regional business plan (including country identification, sequencing, market entry, revenue targets, headcount and cost estimates), and business plan review and approval (e.g., geographic expansion) in partnership with relevant global functions and regional leadership.
  • Lead the AVXS-101 launch for the APAC region (strategy and implementation).
  • Partner with medical affairs on the development and implementation of scientific communications, practice guidelines, medical education and information, HEOR and potential registries across the region.
  • Drive the spirit of "ONE Team" across all functions by supporting a team approach to focus on our patients, payers and customers as our top priorities.
  • Build strong, open and collaborative working relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates and cross-functional teams - Sales, Sales Operations, Training, Market Access, Supply Chain, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Investor Relations, Business Development, Finance and Legal.
  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to develop appropriate plans aimed at raising awareness of unmet needs.
  • Ensure that there is a clear understanding of the patient management paradigm, including a deep understanding of the patient journey.
  • Continue to gain deep customer insights and translate them in to key actions and decisions.
  • Build deeper payor, outcomes and policy organizational knowledge to ensure that the launch plans have a clear lens for reimbursement success.
  • Translate the very dynamic competitive landscape implications to key actions and decisions when required.
  • Build and foster relationships with the top-tier key opinion leaders/experts, patient advocacy groups and policy-making organizations, in close collaboration with regional leadership and other global functions.
  • Assess status of newborn screening (NBS) in the APAC region and develop NBS strategy with prioritized initiatives and tactics to accelerate NBS implementation in selected key regional markets.
  • Development and management of overall marketing budget, strategic plan, and associated metrics.
  • Accountable for execution of overall marketing spend within budget in a manner that meets or exceeds regional and organization goals.
  • Drive AveXis presence at selected key regional congresses, symposia, industry meetings and education initiatives for healthcare professionals in close partnership with global cross-functional stakeholders and regional leadership.
  • Develop marketing communications strategies and materials that support the sales force, as applicable.
  • Ensure that all marketing activities are in accordance with the guidelines of the Company's Code of Conduct.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or graduate level degree preferred.
  • Significant experience in marketing rare disease drugs is essential.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in working with high-performing global regional and local marketing teams in both small and large biopharma companies.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to develop clear, differentiated and compelling brand positioning that is aligned with the global strategy.
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40% with a mix of domestic and international travel.
