*This is a 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. position
Summary: Performs various tasks to ensure Regeneron's compliance with environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist in implementation of various EHS programs and initiatives
• Assist in implementing environmental and safety management systems
• Interact with regulatory agencies including OSHA, DEC, County and Town
• Implement emergency response programs. Maintain and organize spill response equipment
• Responsible for Spill Response Team, coordinating drills, training sessions and ensuring response equipment is available and operational
• Conduct and documents inspections of bio hazardous and hazardous chemical waste collection process
• Oversees weekly activities of hazardous chemical waste contractor
• Develops EHS training content for online, on the job training and class room training sessions and performs training as necessary
• Assists with writing safety related policies and procedures as required
• Performs ergonomic assessments, makes recommendations and determines trends and action plans
• Performs Industrial Hygiene monitoring of laboratory and support personnel to interpret data and determine potential exposure to hazardous chemicals
• Performs EHS audits of labs, support areas and offices, works with other parts of the organization to address any problems found
• Works as liaison with contractors performing construction activities onsite
• Writes clear and concise safety related communications, including e-mails, letters, policies and procedures as required
• Responsible for the EHS RON Page as well as EHS communications
• Assist in training of new hires regarding specific techniques in handling chemical, biological, and radioactive hazards
• Completes accident reports, conducts accident investigations and investigates trends
• Participates in professional development training and activities
• Available 24/7 for emergencies that may arise at Regeneron
Education and Experience:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree and some EHS related experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry, significant relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirement. For level II, a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years EHS experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry; significant relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
