General Position Summary/Purpose:

The Scientist I will be responsible for the development, optimization and execution of various biochemical and cellular assays suitable for compound screening in HTS/automation mode to support small-molecule drug discovery projects.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, implement and take innovative approaches to conduct critical experiments that results in achieving time-sensitive project goals.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in biochemical and cellular assays involving various detection methods to determine potency and selectivity of small molecules to understand their SAR and mechanism of action.
  • Utilize literature information as well as the technical experience to troubleshoot assays to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner to accomplish assignments.
  • Perform routine and complex tasks with diligent attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Accurately document, critically analyze/interpret data and communicate the results promptly.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct as well as follow guidelines and lab policies to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment.


Qualifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of relevant laboratory experience, or MS degree or equivalent education with typically 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out job functions. Effective written and verbal communication skills.


Experience:

  • Familiarity with techniques and instrumentation relevant to automated plate-based assays and the use of multiple techniques to execute the desired assays in an HTS format
  • Basic knowledge on programming as well as utilization of biological data analysis tools (GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Office tools) is essential.
