Position Summary:

In this newly created position in the Southeast, reporting to our Vice President, Head, Medical Affairs, you will serve as a key scientific resource for clinicians, scientists, and advocacy groups. You’ll work collaboratively to develop, align, and implement thought leader strategies, plans, and communications, ensuring that information shared is timely, accurate, and fair-balanced. You’ll provide scientific support, as well as other related duties, as we build our Medical Affairs team in preparation for our commercial launch. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Engage in scientific exchange and develop strong scientific relationships with national, regional and local key opinion leaders and experts
  • Ensure the appropriate dissemination of fair-balanced scientific information in a compliant, and timely manner
  • Provide scientific presentations at company sponsored meetings such as advisory boards and external meetings such as managed care presentations
  • Provide scientific support at key regional and national congresses
  • Provide insights to internal colleagues gathered during scientific exchange with KOLs in a compliant manner
  • Provide support to Vice President, Medical Affairs in designing and executing medical strategy, creating training content, slide decks, etc.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information in a timely manner
  • Adhere to internal and health care compliance guidelines
  • Provide clinical support to internal colleagues when needed and available in a compliant manner. 

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) is preferred; along with a minimum of 2 years MSL experience.
  • a Master’s degree (MSN, PA, etc.) is required, along with extensive MSL experience will be considered.
  • Previous Medical Science Liaison experience strongly preferred or other medical affairs experience required
  • Ophthalmology experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required
  • Team oriented, result driven with an ability to effectively interact with internal colleagues in clinical, marketing, sales, and managed care
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory compliance guidelines
  • A valid US Driver’s License and a good driving record are required
  • Ability to travel up to 80% including overnight travel
