Amgen is in search of a Chief of Staff, IS, working from our Thousand Oaks, CA global headquarters. The CoS will report directly to the Head of the Office of the CIO.

The Chief of Staff will lead IS Operations and provide tools and services to enable staff in IS. They will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage IS overall budget and headcount
  • Lead process & training efforts for IS
  • Manage all conferencing needs, all staff, sponsorships, outreach, Quip/Box, Training, SLT projects, Metrics, and Integration (as needed)


Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend & take minutes for ISLT weekly stand up meetings
  • Work directly with CIO on special projects, as needed
  • Independently develop the detailed L&B and OpEx budgets and lead the quarterly budget forecasts with Finance and SLT
  • Apply best practice project management to IS processes for consistency while continuously enacting processes that improve quality and efficiency
  • Manage the development and contribute to the execution of IS/Amgen goals and strategy
  • Facilitate and/or contribute to cross functional working groups to enable technology strategy
  • Develop and manage IS related training (i.e., staff development, refinement of IS processes, cross-functional overviews/processes to enhance working relationships)
  • Quarterly and Annual Budget Forecast reports
  • Business Continuity Department contract and recovery plans (annual assessment)
  • Departmental projects, workshops, training sessions (staff development), process documents as needed
  • Integration support as needed


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of information systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of information systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of information systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of information systems experience

OR

High School Diploma and 12 years of information systems experience

AND

2 years' managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related industry experience
  • Experience in project management, highly organized
  • Familiar with databases and highly proficient in use of MS Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint
  • Knowledge of the System/Software development process
  • Several years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a record of key accomplishments
  • Demonstrated ability to create and build relationships with internal and external parties
  • Ability to interface effectively with all-levels of staff across differing functional expertise within the organization, including Commercial, Legal, Manufacturing, and Finance
  • Professional demeanor with strong decision-making skills and ability to work calmly in a high intensity and dynamic environment
  • Ability to foresee and solve problems, and prioritize and meet deadlines
