Position Overview

Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.

Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Designs details of automated systems. Provides consultation to users in the area of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.

Proactively applies professional concepts to contribute to development of company's concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective way. Provides guidance on extremely complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Analyzes the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment. Initiates systems analysis, validation testing, training and implementation of new or enhanced business system functionality, including analyzing and designing complex systems. Initiates and drives the implementation of systems with comprehensive consideration of user requirements, systems integration, and project timelines; and ensures that the Company is equipped with systems that are reliable, compliant, efficient, and effective. Plays a key role in working with system user groups, and system support groups to maintain a high level of communication and collaboration to enable effective function and interfaces. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Ensures these requirements include quality and compliance considerations. Works with developers to ensure requirements are understood, developed and tested. Identifies and evaluates nature of problem(s), recommends solutions and drives solutions to implementation. Analyzes business and user needs, documents requirements and revises existing systems. Develops a variety of test plans. Acts as primary interface with development resources, keeping management appraised of progress, alternatives and risks. Creates and maintains complex report, batch, interactive, and subfile programs. Develops management tools and reports to assist in measuring, managing, and planning business initiatives. Ensures cGMP and compliance requirements are met and/or exceeded on designated activities. Works on and may lead other projects as assigned.

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 10 years industry work experience is required. Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve problems and ability to effectively apply a broad range of professional concepts, practices and methods in moderately complex and diverse circumstances are required. Expert Business System knowledge and a sophisticated understanding of the Company's computer operating system(s) and application systems are required. Knowledge and experience with systems development lifecycle and data modeling is required. Must have experience of effectively assessing end-user issues and requirements, demonstrating the ability to resolve and integrate solutions. Must be able to demonstrate business analysis expertise and must have the ability to understand and evaluate organization wide impacts of application changes. Must be able to adhere to the Company's naming and coding standards. Must be able to adhere to structure programming, analysis and design techniques. Experience working in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or other regulated environment is highly preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a clear succinct manner, both verbally and in writing are required. Must be able to work independently and efficiently on several tasks at once.
