Amgen is committed to unlocking the potential of biology for patients suffering from serious illnesses by discovering, developing, manufacturing and delivering innovative human therapeutics. We have a presence in approximately 100 countries and regions worldwide and our innovative medicines have reached millions of people in the fight against serious illnesses. We focus on six therapeutic areas: cardiovascular disease, oncology, bone health, neuroscience, nephrology and inflammation. Our medicines typically address diseases for which there are limited treatment options, or they are medicines that provide a viable option to what is otherwise available.

The Role of Amgen's Drug Substance Technologies (DST) Organization is to use organic synthesis to deliver robust processes and technologies for the manufacture of Drug Substance/Active Pharmaceutical ingredient from early to late stage development, and serve our R&D, Clinical and Commercial partners. The Drug Substance Technologies and Engineering group is a part of DST and is principally concerned with translating developmental processes into commercial manufacturing reality through scientific expertise, engineering innovation and deployment of manufacturing technologies.

This group, located at our Cambridge, Massachusetts site, is looking for an Undergraduate student interested in a 6 month Co-op placement with in Amgen's chemical process development group. This role will learn and develop chemical reactions focused on solving small molecule synthetic transformations. The Co-op will develop the principles of process scale-up of small-molecule intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients using modern techniques, including catalysis or biocatalysis. The Co-op will have an opportunity to interact with scientists and engineers implementing manufacturing technologies for multiple product modalities.

Relocation in the form of a miscellaneous allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.
