Job Summary

Under minimal direction, the Electrician is responsible for performing/providing electrical, repair, installation and troubleshooting of electrical equipment used at Thousand Oaks B7 Epogen® (EPO) manufacturing facilities and utility plants.

All work is to be completed to assure minimal impact to production while complying with Amgen Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) policies and regulations.

The Electrician is responsible for having all work completed in a safe (in accordance to Hazard Risk Assessments (HRA) and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA)) and timely manner according to planning and predefined schedules with minimal impact to production while complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform advanced maintenance, installation, operation and design of electrical equipment in manufacturing facilities and utility plants
  • Ensure that work order documentation is completed with accurate information
  • Maintain, interpret and review electrical power distribution drawings, electrical schematics, cable and conduit schedules and panel schedules
  • Maintain an up-to-date GMP training record
  • Maintain an on-going two-way performance dialogue with your manager
  • Notify your manager of any training needs and advise them of any factors impacting your ability to perform work
  • Perform tasks in accordance with the planning and scheduling process
  • Support on-call response by maintaining a pager or cell phone while on-call
  • Plan and schedule your own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities
  • Experience with Building 7/7U Electrical PM's:
  • VFD's (Pumps and Air Handlers)
  • Motor Amperage Checks
  • Emergency Lighting Inspection
  • EDG monthly, semi, annual, tri. quin
  • UPS quarterly, semi, annual, quin
  • Coordinating electrical power outages
  • Automatic Transfer Switches
  • EDG's (Monthly, Quarterly, Semi Annual & Annual)
  • GFCI's
  • Insect Electrocuter


Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree and 4 years of electrician and industrial electrical experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 6 years of electrician and industrial electrical experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly skilled craftsperson and knowledgeable in installation, maintenance and design of electrical equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of power distribution systems, UPS systems, variable speed drives, emergency generators, motors, breakers and motor control centers
  • Understanding of process control systems, including those that are computer based
  • Training or hands on experience in specialized subjects such as electrical theory, electrical controls, analog or digital electronics and the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of electrical equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams
  • Ability to seek outside resources
  • Licensed Electrician
  • Experience in cell culture manufacturing facilities
  • Experience in CMMS (MAXIMO) system, specifically in work order execution and job plan review and evaluation
  • Experience in troubleshooting of highly automated systems/equipment
  • Availability to work non-standard shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Familiarity with Amgen Building 7/7U
  • Electrician with industrial electrical experience and/or biotech familiarity
  • Experience with GMP and GMP documentation practices
  • Perform per Amgen LOTO procedure
  • Escort/Oversee Contractors for electrical support
  • Respond to electrical issues
  • On Call support for after hours and weekends as needed
  • Available to work OT as needed
  • Corrective Action electrical work orders
  • Replace/Repair lighting (Lamps & Ballast)
