The Senior Manager GBS (Global Business Solutions) Strategy will be responsible for leading the development and execution of a continuous improvement operating system at the Amgen Capability Center (ACC) in Tampa. The Senior Manager GBS Strategy will report to the Executive Director GBS Strategy. This position will work closely with ACC leadership and the rest of the GBS Strategy team to (i) install a scalable culture and capability for process excellence at ACC; (ii) drive continuous improvement initiatives at the site; and (iii) develop a scalable system to measure and communicate performance through metrics that matter. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in continuous improvement and transformation, possess strong analytical skills and process-oriented discipline. Engaging with senior leadership and influencing without authority is absolutely critical for this role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive culture of process excellence at ACC
  • Work with ACC leaders to develop focus on customer centricity - drive efforts to understand internal customer needs and develop opportunities to improve customer service
  • Work with ACC leaders to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Independently manage pipeline of continuous improvement projects
  • Develop continuous improvement best practices and standards and hold teams and leadership accountable for measurable results
  • Embed continuous improvement capabilities at ACC, including Capability training and hands-on support and application of tools
  • Support executive-level projects, driving insights from quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Develop standards and processes for ACC functional and site-wide metrics. Develop and install capability for visual management
  • Utilize Amgen transformation toolkit to support ACC needs as they arise; work closely with Results Delivery Office where needed.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of GBS, Operations or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering or continuous improvement experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of GBS, Operations or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering or continuous improvement experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of GBS, Operations or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering or continuous improvement experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of GBS, Operations or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering or continuous improvement experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Engineering; MBA preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to translate strategy into tangible work product
  • Demonstrated project management, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver impactful business solutions
  • Proven experience in managing internal and external clients and relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent presentation skills and comfort presenting to senior management
  • Demonstrated initiative (self-starting), comfort with ambiguity and ability to influence without authority
  • High proficiency in Lean, Agile; Six Sigma highly desirable
