Job Details

The position is for an Associate Scientist working in a group focused on immunobiology questions. The group is part of the nonclinical safety organization of Amgen and is working cross-functionally with research across the portfolio of drug development projects. The candidate will leverage and need to be proficient with multiple cellular or molecular immunological techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry, in vitro immune cell assays, primary tissue cell cultures, PCR, western blotting and immunoprecipitation.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree and 2 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS with 6+ years of scientific experience or MS and 3+ years of scientific experience in molecular and cellular immunology
  • Basic immunology knowledge, possessing the cellular immunological techniques including multi-color flow cytometry and in vitro immune cell assays, primary tissue cell culture and ELISA
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and is highly motivated, creative and collaborative
  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry, human PBMC isolation, in vitro T cell activation and ELISA
  • Highly motivated, creative and collaborative
  • Demonstrated expertise in gene regulation and signaling transduction based assays in primary cells involving molecular cloning, retroviral transduction, siRNA, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, PCR, RT-PCR. CRISPR and/or RNA seq experience
  • Proficiency with a variety of other cellular immunology techniques including multicolor flow cytometry, PBMC isolation, in vitro T cell activation, cellular imaging and ELISA
  • Ability to trouble shoot and work independently on experimental design, execution and data analysis
  • Comfort in working with PBMC and whole blood from non-clinical species
  • Comfort in working in a highly interactive and vibrant environment and a passion for teamwork
  • Ability to synthesize and present results in PowerPoint format in both internal and external group meetings
