Job Details

Dr. Bradford Gibson in Therapeutics Discovery/Discovery Attributes Sciences department at Amgen is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of mass spectrometry-based proteomics to identifying proteins expressed on the surface of cells, tumors and tissues ('Surfaceomics').

Our proteomics group supports a larger effort at Amgen to develop technologies to identify and characterize novel proteins in the neurovasculature and to support immuno-oncology and other therapeutic programs for cell targeted therapies. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to develop and implement new cell surface capture methods to enrich proteins and glycoproteins that are on the cell surface of target tissues and tumors. We will be using laser capture microdissection and other techniques along with surface labeling and advanced mass spectrometry proteomics to capture and characterize the cell surface proteome. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research based on initial studies, to present at scientific conferences, and publish in leading journals.

The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.

Basic Qualifications

PhD at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience in proteomics and mass spectrometry

Skilled in chromatography and chemical techniques used for protein labeling, as well as hands on experience in mass spectrometry instrumentation and data processing.

Tissue or cell culture training , including technical skills such as dissecting, isolating, and mounting tissues, laser capture microdissection, and/or familiarity with basic cell culture techniques
