Job Details

The Value & Access Lead is responsible for establishing the vision, strategy and execution of best-in-class methodologies, solutions and services to capture the dynamics of the ever-changing organized customer landscape across the healthcare value chain. The Lead acts as the key point of contact between the US Value & Access (USVA) Senior Leadership and the US Commercial Strategy and Analytics (CS&A) functions, translating business needs into analytical and insights plans that inform best practices and innovation in product commercialization, and organized customer contracting and partnerships.

As a key member of the CS&A leadership team, he or she champions insights-driven strategy, objective, evidence-based decision making, and continuous innovation. The Value and Access Lead contextualizes complex data into an integrated picture, illustrating the interplay between tactics and brand performance.

The CS&A Value & Access Lead reports to the Head of US Commercial Strategy & Analytics. Job responsibilities include:
  • Support and collaborate with USVA senior leadership to provide insights and analytics on the impact of healthcare policy trends and macro issues affecting access and reimbursement, as well as developing and evaluating new engagement models to partner with emerging organizations, resulting from mergers and coalitions across the payer/organized customer landscape.
  • Continuously develop Amgen's capabilities around organized customer analytics, leveraging new and emerging data, technologies and methodologies
  • Lead analytics innovation in the access and reimbursement space across the USVA CS&A team
  • Help inform the organized customer engagement model with customer profiling / segmentation insights and performance measurement
  • Provide thought leadership connecting value and access analytics within the full picture of brand performance
  • Develop an environment for best practice sharing and standardization across brands
  • Develop and coach a team of value and access analytical experts to provide critical insights to the entire organization
  • Limited Travel Required


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of payer/organized customer analytics, market research/analytics, consulting and/or marketing experience

OR
  • Master's degree and 8 years of payer/organized customer analytics, market research/analytics, consulting and/or marketing experience

OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of payer/organized customer analytics, market research/analytics, consulting and/or marketing experience

AND
  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, brands, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Executive presence: can quickly establish credibility with and influence ED/VP level staff
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Strategic and conceptual thinker: can set the vision for the future state of the organized customer analytics team within the broader brand analytics and performance
  • Strong leadership with a demonstrated ability to build and develop high performing teams, deliver results, and shape the future
  • Skill in handling multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Experience and general knowledge across multiple market channels to include Payer, Provider, Employer, PBMs, Specialty Pharmacy, Distribution, Patient Services, ACOs, IDNs
  • Deep knowledge of managed care environment, pricing, access and reimbursement
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical data types and sources (e.g., sales, volume, specialty pharmacy)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement new innovative methodologies and to enhance Amgen's insights identification capabilities
  • Strong Business Acumen: understands both the markets, brands and broader context (internal and external) of the business - can translate insights and findings into realistic, actionable recommendations
  • Amgen portfolio therapeutic area knowledge is a plus
  • Experience managing outside vendors
