Summary
The Cardiovascular Research subgroup that conducts in vitro and in vivo studies in the area of thrombosis/haemophilia requires a highly motivated and dedicated individual capable of performing two critical roles: 1) In vitro assays including (but not limited to) Western blotting, ELISAs, enzymatic activity assays, immunoassays, platelet activation and aggregation, clinical coagulation and fibrinolysis assays and 2) In vivo duties range from blood draws to conducting haemostasis/thrombosis models. The majority of the assays and models to be performed have already been developed, so an individual with some experience in conducting in vitro assays and in animal handling/studies is highly desired.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities under supervisor's guidance:

• Perform in vitro assays: ELISA, Western blotting, Enzymatic assay, Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT)/prothrombin time (PT), thrombin generation assay (TGA) and turbidometric assay

• Handle human blood/plasma for the following assays: Thromboelastography (TEG), platelet activation and aggregation assessments
Perform in vivo operations: Animals handling, anesthesia, drug dosing, tissue and blood/plasma collections

• Support in vivo bleeding and thrombosis studies with other Research fellows

• Capable of learning new methods and/or technologies relevant to the projects

• Able to routinely work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Perform routine calculations for drug formulation and dosing

• Ability to communicate experimental results to supervisor and/or project teams, and present data at group meetings

• Accurately document findings and lab records in laboratory notebook and as soft copies.

Requirements
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors Degree and 5+ years related experience (or MS + 3). The required skills of an ideal candidate include:

• Basic understanding and knowledge of cardiovascular biology with some knowledge of thrombosis and haemostasis

• Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Bioassays desired but not required on following assays: ELISA, Western Blot analysis, Enzymatic activity assays, coagulation/fibrinolytic functional assays

• Prior hands-on experience with rodent models and familiarity in administration of compounds (via s.c/i.p/i.v/p.o. routes) are preferred but not required

• Experience in sample collection (blood and tissue), rodent histology staining, microscopy imaging and histopathology evaluation are preferred but not required

• Computer skills such as experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism, SPSS, and ADInstruments Lab Chart

• Strong organization/planning and communication skills

• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment

• Ability to learn new technologies/methods and troubleshooting
