Summary
The Immuno-Oncology team is seeking a highly skilled scientist to contribute to the discovery and validation of novel therapeutic approaches aimed at harnessing the immune system to treat cancer. The successful candidate will design and execute preclinical in vivo experiments as well as advanced in vitro assays. The candidate will lead multiple projects in a fast-paced and results-driven environment. The candidate must be able to efficiently present her/his findings to internal multi-disciplinary teams and at external meetings.
Responsibilities
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Independently design, plan, and perform complex anti-tumor efficacy studies in mice including dosing (IV, SC, IP) and tumor growth monitoring.
• Dissection of tumors / organs for immune cell isolation and subsequent analysis.
• Design advanced flow cytometry (FACS) panels and perform FACS analysis on immune cells isolated from tumors and tissues.
• Analyze data using biological and statistical software such as Flowjo, Prism, Excel, etc.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the company.
• Compile results across experiments and programs and present to multi-disciplinary teams, including translational teams, and senior management.
• Document experimental procedures and results in a well-organized fashion; generate experimental reports.
• Participate in general lab duties of the team.
• Continuously follow the current relevant literature, attend scientific meetings and maintain expertise in the field of Immunology and Immuno-Oncology
• Additionally, the successful candidate should be receptive to novel technologies to increase work efficiency, optimization of current protocols and development of new techniques.
Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of a PhD degree, with a minimum of 3 years of R&D experience in academic or industry (PhD study included). The qualified candidate will have a strong background in Immunology and/or Immuno-Oncology and will have hands on experience with techniques such as flow cytometry, cell culture, and mouse experimentation. Expertise in T cell and / or dendritic cell biology is highly desired. The candidate must be highly motivated and organized with efficient time management, attention to detail, and is expected to effectively and frequently communicate and collaborate with colleagues.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Expertise with animal handling is a must; experienced in different methods of compound administration (i.v., i.p., s.c., etc), and tissue /sample collection.
- Ability to design and perform complex in vivo experiments utilizing tumor models in mice.
- Experienced in isolation and characterization of primary immune cells from murine tissues/tumors and human blood.
- Experienced in cell culture (both primary cells and established cell lines) and transfection; experience with viral transduction is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience with advanced flow cytometry is a must, including complex panel design for cell surface and intracellular staining, data acquisition and analysis.
- Skilled in a variety of in vitro/ex vivo immune cell-based assays, including planning, execution, analysis and record keeping.
- Experience with recombinant lentiviral vectors and antibody technology or development is a plus.
- Experience with T cells, DC/macrophage-based functional assays is highly preferred.
- Experience with RNAseq and/or single cell RNAseq experimentation is highly preferred.
