Job Details

The role of the Senior Analyst, Business Systems, within R&D - Information Research (IT) is to partner with our respective business partners and contribute to the design, development, implementation and support of process, software and data systems used by the AbbVie Drug Discovery & Development Sciences practice areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Consults with functional areas to develop understanding of the varied and complex business needs supported by the system. Responsible for determining how changing business needs will affect the system and business processes. Understands the role of the system in the big picture and provides ideas and recommendations regarding the evolution of the system.
  • Responds to questions and influences the users regarding current and potential system processes and integrations. Engages the right teams and builds business user requirements and work flow procedures. Negotiates plans, time frames and trade-offs while ensuring client understands the final results of the project.
  • Reviews and routes requested system changes and develops detailed specifications for implementation. Communicates system changes and issues to next level for resolution.
  • Ensures current and accurate system requirements for both validated and non-validated systems. Provides systems expertise and in-depth business understanding. Involved with the cross-functional teams regarding planning/scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Produces requirements, high level project time lines
  • Facilitate the development and integration of rapid, efficient, economical and purposeful scientific technology tools, computing resources, and information across AbbVie Discovery & Development Sciences Develop and maintain an active continuous improvement approach, including education of other colleagues and evaluation of evolving best practices
  • Identify key elements of process improvement and partner with process owners/SME's to deliver sustainable and repeatable improvements
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies including informing, consulting and involving stakeholders on key initiatives
  • Advise area leadership of issues and/or risks to stakeholder relationships as soon as they arise so communications and risks can be managed effectively
  • Ensure team members understand the value of and are committed to - the genuine participation of stakeholders in the development of processes and services designed to meet stakeholder needs (Customer-Focus)
  • Manage the evaluation of stakeholder satisfaction and implement strategies across the business to find solutions to areas of concern
  • Lead professional development efforts of team members
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team oriented working environment


Basic:
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent plus 6 or more years technical experience, or Masters degree plus 5 or more years experience or sufficient experience to demonstrate technical equivalency.
  • Experience in a Business System Analyst role.
  • Systems Testing and IT Implementation. experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Engineering experience.
  • Total combined experience required: 3 or more years.

Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems or Life Sciences
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a Drug Discovery, Development Sciences or other biotech environment
  • Direct experience working on Drug Discovery/Development Sciences project teams or hands on bench experience, ideally in a Research & Development environment
  • Professional software development or software-project management experience with an emphasis on business systems analysis and requirements definition
