BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.

BioMarin's Research & Development group is responsible for everything from research and discovery to post-market clinical development. Research & Development involves all bench and clinical research and the associated groups that support those endeavors. Our teams work on developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with rare diseases. Come join our team and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and team-oriented individual to join the human genetics research group. The successful candidate will utilize the latest technologies to advance our therapeutic research and discovery efforts. Tasks will include the use of gene editing technologies to assess genomic functions in vitro. The position requires adaptability, creativity, and a capacity for constant innovation in pursuit of company goals.

Maintain mammalian cell culture and apply gene editing studies and in vitro functional assays (e.g., CRISPR, RT-qPCR, reporter assays, FACS analysis). Evaluate and integrate new emerging technologies in genomics. Develop and optimize protocols for next generation sequencing, including the use of liquid handling robots and automation to facilitate library preparation. Analyze WGS, Amplicon-seq, and RNA-seq data sets. Design, develop, execute, and analyze experimental research projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Experience with CRISPR/Cas9, RNAi, or other genomic perturbation techniques. Experience with pooled or arrayed CRISPR library generation and screening, including the use of liquid handling robotics for mammalian cell culture and downstream library preparation for NGS is preferred. Experience with nucleic acid manipulation and next generation sequencing. Experience with mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry. Prior experience with RT-qPCR and other basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Experience with next generation sequencing at the molecular biology and computational analysis of genomic data using R, Perl, or Python is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related scientific field and at least 6 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Track record of productivity and effective projects. Interested in learning new techniques and approaches. Attention to detail, time management and organization skills are critical.
