In the context of a rapidly evolving pricing environment Amgen requires an increasingly sophisticated reimbursement and pricing capability to support market access teams and business development activity. The capabilities of the Global Pricing & Analytics (GP&A) group positions Amgen for future success towards this business-critical imperative.

The GP&A group is part of the Global Pricing & Market Access (GPMA) team, within the Global Value Access & Policy (GVA&P) function. This global team is responsible for strategic planning of value and access for all Amgen molecules in development, beginning in Phase I-II and extending throughout commercialization across the Amgen portfolio. The team is responsible for global strategic pricing, including recommendations for global price bands and launch sequence. This work also includes lifecycle planning and access support for selected in-the-market products. Additionally, the team assists with valuations of assets under investigation by our Business Development team.

The Pricing and Reimbursement Manager -- Pricing Analytics will lead projects across all business units (Oncology, Inflammation, Bone Health, Cardiology, Neuroscience, General Medicine, and Biosimilars) utilizing strong analytics and cross-functional data management. This individual will work closely with the Pricing Director of GP&A to deliver price governance and launch sequence analysis, as well as ad hoc analytics as needed. This role will pivot quickly between therapeutic areas, generate insightful market assessments, and meet tight deadlines with high accuracy (e.g. Business Development bid support). The Pricing Manager will be responsible for gathering data from internal and external sources, analysis of data, financial model creation and generating final documentation of project results.

The Pricing Manager will work collaboratively across functions to ensure comprehensive advice is gathered within the scope of his/her assigned responsibilities and create and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders. These stakeholders include pricing and access colleagues in Amgen's Europe, JAPAC, and the Intercontinental regions, as well as GPMA, Finance, and Information Systems.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities include:

  • Validating and executing analysis in support of global price exceptions and worldwide launch sequence optimization analysis
  • Managing and manipulating data retrieved from Amgen pricing and financial systems
  • Collaborating with country pricing personnel to ensure accurate International Reference Pricing (IRP) information entered into Amgen systems
  • Assisting in price and access analytics (e.g. cost of therapy, comparator pricing, access maps of coverage and restrictions) to support assessments of potential business development opportunities and early pipeline investments
  • Assisting in analytics and tracking of pricing and access assumptions to be included in appropriate forecasts and long-range plans (LRPs)
  • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the quality of the analytics performed by the team
  • Documenting policies, procedures, risks-controls.
  • Travel - International travel may be required up to 10% of the time

 


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of pricing and/or analytics and/or market access experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of pricing and/or analytics and/or market access experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of pricing and/or analytics and/or market access experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of pricing and/or analytics and/or market access experience

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Pharmaceutical/biotechnology pricing experience

 

  • Superior Excel skills - Develops spreadsheets models for highly complex financial analyses
  • Experience in creating macros and SQL queries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Power Point
  • Solid background in data mining, creating calculation models, and generating ad hoc reports
  • Experience in data reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information for broad communication
  • High attention to detail/reporting accuracy, while also able to focus on the overall problem/solution
  • Ability to translate high volumes of data into meaningful information to support key business decisions
  • Ability to research payer coverage policies, prior authorization criteria, clinical guidelines, and health technology assessment (HTA) reports for pricing and access analytics
  • Ability to completes projects and makes decisions with minimal direction and strong ability to develop prioritization and completion timeframes for multiple assignments
  • Team player, looks for ways to support team members
