Amgen's Commercial IS team is looking for an experienced software UI developer to build the next generation of software applications to support US Business Operations. The successful candidate will have a passion for and history of designing top-notch desktop, mobile and web applications. This role will support the product owner and data engineering teams responsible for building software applications through a well-rounded set of design skills that range from product definition to customer research, wire framing and full end-to-end prototyping. Candidate should have at least 5-6 years of successful interaction design experience developing consumer/business web applications and social platforms. For this role, we highly value experience building scalable web applications, tools and build processes as well as having a solid sense for design and UX.

GCOIS is responsible for partnering with Amgen's Global Commercial Operations organization to deliver technology services and solutions that achieve corporate strategies and business plans. This role will service US Business Operations (USBO).

Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead full-stack web-based application development for various enterprise applications
  • Work within the product team to translate complex requirements into concepts and elegant user experience designs
  • Work closely with Product, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing teams to understand user problems and business goals
  • Create deliverables including wireframes, mockups, prototypes to define the user experience and collaborate with engineering to implement them
  • Present and effectively communicate your designs to the team and to the greater organization
  • Development of front end UI, using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, angular.js / NodeJS.
  • Work closely with the back-end development team, in the process of building the RESTful API
  • Consistent delivery of high-quality code following engineering best-practices


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, data structures & algorithms
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, information architecture, networking, & security
  • 6 or more years of experience developing in one or more languages (Java, C#, C, Python, Go)
  • 6 or more years of experience developing front end and backend applications, REST/SOAP style APIs.
  • 6 or more years of experience in frontend frameworks (Javascript, Jquery, AngularJS, ReactJS)
  • 6 or more years of experience with SQL, Data Modelling & query optimization
  • 6 or more years of experience with open source development tool chain (SVN, Git, Jenkins, etc)
  • Experienced in building cloud native applications with one of big 3 cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft, Google). Should have delivered at least 2 applications with different use cases.
  • Strong understanding of cloud provider architecture, concepts & SDKs
  • Hands on experience in one or more - ETL, Batch Processing, APIsMachine Learning
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
  • Solid experience / knowledge of all areas of IT (Application Development, Data Management and Infrastructure)
  • Experience with IS technologies and processes
  • 6 or more years of professional work experience as a user interface developer of Rich Internet Applications
  • 6 or more years of professional work experience coding rich, immersive interfaces using HTML5
  • Experience with a variety of JavaScript libraries (Lodash, jQuery, moment, D3)
  • Demonstrated strong front-end development skills especially concerning accessibility, extensibility, client-side computing, object-oriented design patterns, and object-oriented CSS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with different personality styles and build relationships.
  • Past experience in the education or healthcare industry, or business intelligence
