Summary: Provide technical project management for the identification, analysis, development, implementation and support of robotics and automation needs and initiatives within the Quality Control department. The ideal candidate will have software and laboratory equipment qualification/validation experience, and strong computer software skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Evaluate a variety of laboratory procedures, and conduct system analysis, identify opportunities for automation/robotics to drive quality, efficiency and consistency.
  • Identify technology solutions available and evaluate for effectiveness, feasibility, GMP and regulatory compliance. Assemble information and provide recommendations to QC leadership for new automation/robotics initiatives.
  • Interact project teams and vendors for the implementation of automation/robotics initiatives throughout all stages:
    • Defining project scope and priority, Technical evaluation of method changes for impact to automated processes within QC.
    • Development user requirement for the automation project, include equipment purchase/justification, qualification, and system integration
    • Future laboratory design and buildout
    • Development of relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) if applicable.
  • Provide support for automation/robotics related investigations and other quality processes
  • Provide guidance to QC leadership in assessing resource, equipment and space needs.
  • Regularly interact with Sr. Management or executive levels. Exercise judgment and exert some influence on the overall automation objectives and long-range goals of the QC Department. Represent the department in relevant internal/external committees.
  • Lead special projects as assigned by department management.

Education and Experience:

• BS in Biology or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry. (or PhD & 2+ years).

• Requires a strong science/ engineering background with relevant hands-on laboratory experience.

• Project Management experience required. PMP certification is considered a plus.
