Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our new group devoted to the synthesis and test of oligonucleotide reagents, such as antisense oligonucleotides and siRNAs, for RNA therapeutic applications. The responsibilities of this position include oligonucleotide screening using cell-based assay, and functional validation. Candidates are expected to work independently in a creative, collaborative, and dynamic team environment, with strong support for skill and career development.

Responsibilities

• Developing cell based assays.

• Introducing oligonucleotide reagents to cells in a high throughput fashion.

• Executing in vitro cell based bioassays to understand functions of the testing reagents and mechanisms though which the reagents work.

• Maintain and culture cell lines and primary cells. Generate stable cell lines as necessary.

• Troubleshooting any technical problems, providing feedbacks and suggesting constructive changes.

• Basic molecular biology tasks including PCR, cloning etc.

• Analyzing biological data using software including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo etc.

• Writing study reports and maintaining accurate electronic records. Presenting data at internal/external meetings.

Requirements
Strong technical, analytical and time-management skills, as well as attention to details are required for this position.

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemical engineering, or relevant program.

• Expertise in tissue culture, including culture of cells with different characteristics, primary cells, cell lines and genetically engineered cell lines.

• Experience in generating stable cell lines with various viral vectors (retrovirus, lentivirus, adeno-associated virus, etc).

• Experience in cell based screening assays, such as ELISA, luciferase, fluorescence and Western blotting. Experience in high throughput screening assays.

• Fundamental knowledge in gene transcription and protein translation, RNA splicing, as well as gene expression regulation.

• Basic knowledge in nucleotide structure and modifications.

• Basic skills in molecular biology and cloning.
