Amgen Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technologies Organization is seeking an Associate Scientist responsible for cloning and genetic characterization in support of advancing Amgen large molecule pipeline. The candidate will perform molecular biology and genetic characterization processes including DNA cloning, Sanger sequencing, NGS library prep and sequencing, PCR, northern and southern blots. The candidate will work in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in process development, discovery research, as well as regulatory and quality experts in support of global regulatory filings.

Basic Qualifications:
• Master's degree & 2 years of scientific experience
OR
• Bachelor's degree & 4 years of scientific experience

Responsibilities:
  • Molecular biology techniques-DNA cloning, NGS and Sanger sequencing nd PCR technologies
  • Genetically characterize manufacturing cell lines-northern and southern blotting
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Generate written reports
  • Communicate project updates as appropriate
  • Solve technical problems
  • Participate and present scientific data in meetings.
  • Develop innovative methods to support and improve cloning and genetic characterization technologies
  • Generate relevant data toward publications, patent applications, and regulatory submissions.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in life science or related field with 5 years of relevant scientific experience
• Previous industrial hands on experience in cloning and genetic characterization of mammalian cell banks
• Experience and strong understanding of molecular biology, bioprocess development and protein engineering
• Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genetics, scientifically driven mindset and the ability to explore and develop novel technologies and approaches
• Experience with automation for use in high throughput assays
• Proficiency using data analysis and visualization software such as Geneious and Array Studio
• Excellence in communication skills - both verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills and proactive leadership mindset
