The AbbVie Experiential Internship Program
As an AbbVie Experiential Intern, you'll participate in a paid, ten to twelve-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an intern, you will be located at our corporate headquarters in north suburban Chicago, with housing and shuttle services for eligible students.
Department Overview - Process Research and Development (Engineering)
Process engineering provides robust solutions to chemical engineering problems facing the development and scale-up of API projects. The department specializes in fundamentals of chemical reaction engineering, isolation and separation technologies, and computational modeling.
Assignment Details
Summer intern will be responsible for performing continuous hydrogenation reactions in high pressure reactor system at AbbVie.

Summer intern will be responsible for
- Performing high pressure continuous hydrogenation reactions for pharmaceutical intermediates.
- Critically analyzing experimental data
- Perform catalyst screening and study catalyst deactivation experiments
Develop a mathematical model to predict the performance of the reactor
Basic:
- Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship
- Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
- Graduate Level Student
- Majoring in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated).
- Expertise in chemical reaction engineering and multiphase flows
Preferred:
- Experience in Reaction Engineering and Multiphase flows and familiarity with using languages like Matlab is preferred.
