Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our Neuroscience Department, devoted to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for CNS diseases. We are seeking a candidate with both in vitro and in vivo expertise to help support target research, validation and new technology development. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support in the discovery, characterization, and preclinical development of novel products targeting neurodegenerative brain disorders.

Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for the design and execution of experiments to understand the mechanisms of protein misfolding and protein aggregation in neurodegenerative & amyloidogenic disease(s). The candidate will be involved in many aspects of the drug development process including target discovery, target validation, and assay development to support our Neuroscience pipeline.

Lab duties for the candidate include, but are not limited to:

In vitro

• Molecular cloning

• Protein extraction, western blotting, ELISA

• Immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry

• Cell culture of immortalized cell lines and primary neurons and glia

• Cell-based assays (e.g., cell proliferation or toxicity assays)

In vivo

• Animal handling, behavioral assays, tissue dissection & collection

• Assist with mouse colony management, inventories and space planning

In addition to hands-on experimental work, the candidate will be expected to:

• Perform advanced data analysis as well as trouble shooting with minimal supervision.

• Keep up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments

• Communicate and report experimental findings at meetings
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor s degree +1 year (minimum) or Masters degree and 0+ years in Biochemistry, Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline. The candidate should have hands-on experience in a laboratory research setting and be comfortable conducting experiments that support both in vitro and in vivo efforts (e.g., if candidate does not have animal handling experience; willingness to learn and become comfortable with animal experimentation is required). Industry or academic experience in animal handling/behavior, biochemical, immunological, molecular biology, cell culture and cell-based techniques is preferred. Excellent verbal and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required.
