Job Details

The Finance Manager ("Value Based Work Engagement Manager") is a key member of the Value Based Work team, focusing on driving Amgen's productivity through Value Based Work. The successful candidate will facilitate implementation of ideation, zero-based and river-based budgeting, and category analytics as part of Amgen's Value Based Work capability. In addition to significant stakeholder-facing responsibilities, the role will act as interface between the business's engagement in Value Based Work, the Global Strategic Sourcing function, Corporate Finance and the analytics group ("FIT team"). Scope of engagement spans all functions across the organization.

Candidate would lead / contribute to the following activities:
  • Drives innovative transformational thinking, ensuring fair process, escalating issues, and delivering high quality deliverables
  • Provides cross-functional initiative support and works with teams to solve business problems
  • Supports idea generation in Functions to ensure a pipeline of ongoing projects and pending ideas to align with short- and long-term goals
  • Provides valuation and validation via business case support for teams to value ideas, options and investments
  • Contributes to tool design and development to enable zero-based and driver-based budgeting for priority categories
  • Designs and implements category analytics and monitoring process to support expense management
  • Facilitates appropriate dialogue and discussion between Value Based Work, GSS, Corporate Finance and the analytics group.

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve goals and results in a highly matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and manage complex projects and programs
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex concepts and processes in both written and oral communication
  • Ability to lead change management activities, including supporting communication, change impact, and training efforts
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Professional collaboration and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate analysis into recommendations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate degree
    OR
  • Master's degree and 2 years of Finance experience
    OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Finance experience
    OR
  • Associate's degree and 10 years of Finance experience
    OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools
