Lead Scientist – Antibody Discovery

Our team integrates expertise in immunology, tumor cell biology, and protein biochemistry and engineering to provide therapies that can transform patients’ lives.

Apeximmune is seeking an experienced and talented Lead Scientist with a strong background in hybridoma technology to join our therapeutic antibody discovery team. As an early hire, you will lead the hybridoma group to set up our in-house hybridoma capabilities and play a key role in the discovery, characterization, and development of antibodies for our immuno-oncology therapeutic programs. The position will lead our hybridoma campaign efforts including immunization and strategy, fusion,  and maintaining, expanding, and subcloning hybridoma cell lines. You will also help with antibody screening using various binding and immune cell functional assays. Successful candidates will have extensive knowledge and strong hands-on technical expertise in all aspects of hybridoma technology.

Key responsibilities include:

Evaluating serum titers, processing of spleen and lymph nodes, and performing fusions

Collection of hybridoma supernatants to screen and characterize antibodies for binding and functional activity using ELISA, FACS, and various cell-based assays

Maintain, expand, cryopreserve, and subclone hybridoma cell lines

Perform small scale antibody expression and purification

Explore new technologies, techniques, and approaches to improve the antibody discovery workflow process


Master’s degree or Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field and at least 7+ or 2+ years of industry experience respectively.

Strong hands-on technical expertise in antibody using hybridoma technology, including hybridoma generation, screening, expansion, subcloning, and antibody purification

Experience in antibody characterization including binding assays with ELISA and FACS, as well as cell-based functional assays

Extensive mammalian cell culture experience

Highly analytical with the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and work independently in a close team environment

Strong communication, organization, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail


Experience with high throughput multiparameter flow cytometry

Experience with methods directly measuring bio-molecular interactions (Octet or Biacore platforms)
