Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and energetic scientist to join the Transgenic group. The candidate will be responsible for oversight of internal Genetically Modified Animal (GMA) projects.
Specific responsibilities
- Lead a staff of scientists and microinjectionists supporting the creation of GMA models.
- Collaborate with independent scientific teams within the group to enable the creation of GMAs onsite, provide project management and scientific support, and to run parallel, complimentary GMA strategies to other project teams.
- Independently lead the creation of GMAs using gene transfer and gene-editing strategies to create a range of GMA models to support biologics discovery and program validation.
- Breeding management on and off-site.
- Participate in IACUC activities on-site.
- Contribute extensively to in vivo and technical protocol management.
- Coordinate cryopreservation and microinjection services.
- Responsible for all embryo modified GMAs efforts.
- Manage projects independently and present results regularly to senior management.
- Excellent written and oral skills are necessary
- Accomplish goals under project team time lines
Requirements
- Ph.D. with at least 2+ years of post-doctoral experience and/or 5+ years of relevant transgenic experience. Transgenic team management on either academic or industry level is desirable. Experience in Immunology and understand immune-related genes and gene interactions is preferred.
- Strong background in transgenic technologies and project management is required.
- Proven track record as a successful leader of a microinjection team is preferred.
- Familiar and experienced in the full range of transgenic models, both traditional and modern gene editing approaches.
- Knowledgeable about the process of generating transgenic mice and must be proficient in troubleshooting and evaluating new technological approaches.
- Knowledge of molecular biology, mouse genetics, and genotyping approaches is required. Experience in mouse breeding management and timelines and downstream phenotypic analysis is required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team.
