AbbVie Immunology is expanding its early discovery at Cambridge, Massachusetts. This new immunology research group at AbbVie Cambridge Research Center (ACRC) will focus on identifying new targets for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases through computational analysis of human disease tissue derived datasets, and validating targets using in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual with laboratory experience in immunology based assays to develop novel platforms for target validation in vitro as well as in pre-clinical models. This position requires passion, attention to detail, hands-on experience and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, evaluate and implement well-controlled in vitro and in vivo studies to interrogate target biology, and generate proof of concept data supporting target Go/No Go decisions.
  • Execute in vivo studies utilizing a variety of techniques including dosing, conduct necropsies, as well as ex vivo analysis of read-outs of disease activity.
  • Execute in vitro studies to interrogate target biology using immune cells (primary, cell lines) of human and mouse origin.
  • Planning and coordination of experiments with team members.
  • Analysis and presentation of data, providing scientific interpretations and recommendations in lab meetings and project team meetings.
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organized records and laboratory notebooks.

Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • BS or MS in Biological Sciences/Immunology/related discipline with typically 5-7+ (BS) or 2-5+ (MS) years of industry/academic experience. Hands-on experience working on in vitro and in vivo models is preferred.
  • Expertise in the study of inflammatory diseases such IBD and/or other rheumatic disorders is a plus
  • Proficient in laboratory skills such as running animal models as well as tissue handling for ex vivo analysis (multicolor flow cytometry, QPCR, western, ELISA, MSD). Experience in imaging techniques (endoscopy, IVIS imaging, etc.) is a plus
  • Independent design, development and evaluation of well-controlled in vitro assays to address target biology and drug biology using immune cells
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be a quick-learner and be a team-player.
