Purpose of Position:

This position plans, coordinates, and directs all computer-related activities within a multi-site organization. Plays the lead role in developing the Company's information technology strategies and goals working closely with senior management. Also, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining systems to meet those goals through the management of internal and external support resources. This position also ensures that all systems meet or exceed the compliance requirements of a regulated pharmaceutical company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop Information Systems strategic plans and oversee their prioritization, justification, and approval requirements working directly with senior management.
  • Develop, implement and maintain Avecias infrastructure for voice, multimedia and data technologies for multiple sites and subsidiaries while ensuring alignment with Corporate guidance.
  • Manage departmental internal and external resources to effectively carry out strategic plans as approved and required system maintenance in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Information Technology policies and procedures ensuring compliance to regulatory, industry, and corporate requirements.
  • Develop and submit justified expenditure and capital budgets in the range of multiple millions of dollars to senior management as required and manage expenditures to those budgets.
  • Perform operational risk assessments and implement mitigation solutions for business continuity, disaster recovery, and security.
  • Review, recommend and negotiate contracts with IT-related providers and vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to cross-functional teams coordinating and performing project activities impacting IT, as required, including working with international teams to ensure corporate alignment.
  • Develop and implement business continuity/disaster recovery plans to minimize disruptions to voice and data infrastructure in the event of a disaster.
  • Drive and support the organizations continuous improvement efforts as related to IT systems.


Job Knowledge Required:
  • MBA with a concentration in Information Technology preferred; BS/MS in a computer science related field with commensurate business experience may be acceptable.
  • 15+ years management experience within a cGMP regulated industry required.
  • Experience in researching, selecting and introducing technology into a complex systems environment required.
  • Experience with the implementation, use, and support of ERP systems and document management systems required.
  • Demonstrated technical and management skills in effectively handling multiple priorities is required.
  • Experience working with multiple site organizations using a combination of centralized and independent systems required.
  • Proven experience with project management and working as part of a cross-functional team from all levels required.
  • Strong background in LAN/WAN network operations required.
  • Experience and familiarity with GxPs system such as Empower, Unicorn, and Beckman, desired.
  • Experience working within an international organization desired.
