Our Lilly Oncology Discovery team has an exciting opportunity that may be a fit for you. We need a scientist who has strong technical skills in cancer cell biology. Are you eager to learn and have a high learning agility? As part of our team you will have the opportunity to participate in target identification/validation, mechanism of action (MOA) studies utilizing both genetic and pharmacological perturbation tools. This is a great opportunity to work for a company dedicated to influencing the lives of the patients we serve. We are looking for someone with these abilities:
- Design and execute molecular and cell biology experiments, troubleshoot and analyze complex data in support of Target Identification and validation projects.
- Design and conduct genetic (using RNAi and CRISPR) and pharmacological perturbation (small molecule) studies to validate oncology targets.
- Design and conduct MOA studies using basic molecular biology tools involving RNA, DNA and protein-based studies including but not limited to western blotting, taqman, gene expression studies etc.
- Design, validation and execution of cell-based assays including but not limited to flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and high content analysis.
- Perform cell culture such as transient transfections, viral expression systems and stable cell line generation.
- Perform independent analysis, processing and reporting of raw data and have the opportunity to summarize and present research to cross-functional team members within Oncology.
- Maintain high laboratory standards with regard to quality and safety
Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Biology or related discipline at least 1 or more years of research experience or
- MS degree in Biology or related discipline with lab research component.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Knowledge of cancer biology cell signaling pathways is preferred.
- Lab experience in cancer cell biology and RNAi/CRISPR
- Extensive experience with cell culture techniques (e.g. growing cell lines, transfections, virus infection, generation of stable cell lines, etc).
- Extensive cell biology and molecular biology skills such as nucleic acid (RNA, DNA) isolation, taqman, flow cytometry, western blotting, immunoprecipitation.
- Experience and willingness to work with lentiviruses, small molecules and animal tissue
- Ability to perform quantitative analysis of data.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
