Grad Co-op - Operations (Environment, Health & Safety)

Amgen's Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) department in our Thousand Oaks, CA headquarters is looking for a graduate student interested in a 12-month Co-Op assignment.

Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

The position will be responsible for the following:

Assist with providing support for the office Ergonomics program including performing office ergonomic assessments.

Assist in the assessment of physical and chemical hazards and implementation of control strategies.

Assist in the continuous improvement of compliance programs: e.g. Ergonomics, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Radiation Safety, Environmental Compliance Programs, and Industrial Safety.

Perform audits and inspections: e.g. Hazardous Waste, compliance inspections

Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a graduate internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

In the process of completing the first year of a Master's program with an emphasis in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences or Industrial Hygiene

Previous experience with industrial hygiene instrumentation

Firm applied knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations

Working knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and practices

Strong written, verbal and organizational skills

Computer literate including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
