Site Lead, Strategic Planning & Operations, Amgen San Francisco

As our site continues to evolve, we are seeking a Site Lead - Strategic Planning & Operations to join our leadership team to enable us to continue our mission to serve patients.

This role presents an opportunity to provide business operations support to the Amgen San Francisco site, covering a range of responsibilities including but not limited to active site leadership, internal communications and external outreach, staff engagement, and site budget management. You will have a share of strategic planning and focus, tactical actions and execution, and direct access and visibility to leadership to enable us to achieve the overall site mission and goals. This role will report directly to our ASF Site Head and VP of Research.

Business Operations & Communications:
  • Plan and facilitate site-wide leadership team meetings, committees, and workshops, serving to provide site/staff perspective on issues relating to facilities, operations, safety, engagement, as well as to provide information to team on site activities
  • Liaise regularly with internal departments such as Corporate Affairs, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities, Research & Development, and HR (Site Operations Council)
  • Develop and execute internal communications strategy, in collaboration with HR and Corporate Affairs, to represent the Site's vision, goals and business imperatives that drive staff engagement, awareness and talent retention
  • Plan and prepare site-wide all-staff meetings, communications, and connectivity events in collaboration with HR Site Lead & Corporate Affairs
  • Develop and manage timely, strategic communications utilizing internal communications vehicles (company intranet, newsletter(s), announcements, staff services, calendar and site comms channels such as digital monitors, posters)
  • Manage tour opportunities with academia, elected officials, opinion leaders and Amgen leadership, ensuring appropriate messaging, content and approach
  • Plan and facilitate site business performance reviews for executive leadership visits
  • Identify and drive process improvements at the site and general issue resolution


Internal / Staff Engagement:
  • Partner with HR to help develop site culture and foster employee engagement
  • Provide oversight for the planning/execution of both internal and external events (annual staff engagement events, scientific off-site, staff appreciation opportunities)
  • Ensure ongoing integration and collaboration across the site and within Amgen
  • Serve as point-of-contact for the management of day-to-day site operations at ASF


External Engagement / Outreach:
  • Actively participate in Amgen San Francisco's External Outreach Committee, driving initiatives that increase Amgen's visibility in the local community to enhance our scientific reputation, capture external innovation, and attract/retain talent


Site Budget Management:
  • Forecast and manage the Site Budget, working closely with the HR Site Lead, Finance, and the ASF Site Head to ensure site needs are being met
  • Ensure investment decisions have neutral or positive returns


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of project management or scientific experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of project management or scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of project management or scientific experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of project management or scientific experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of project management or scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher

Biology and/or biotechnology experience

Project management experience with significant interaction with internal and external stakeholders

Strong communication skills (both written and presentation) and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate at all levels of the organization including executive leadership

Demonstrated ability to be creative and think outside the box; a strong strategic thinker

Experience working with and / or leading cross functional teams that required strong influencing skills

Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment that challenges the status quo of healthcare
