This position will handle diversified scientific business development responsibilities for our rapidly expanding biomarker global laboratories.  The SBM initiates scientific discourse with our clients, harnesses the subject matter experts (scientific and operational) within HistoGeneX and champions the needs of our clients internally. The SBM is also responsible for follow up with client teams to drive the Requests For Proposals (RFPs) into awarded projects. The ideal candidate has existing relationships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations who are developing oncology therapeutics.  Applicants should be well-versed with HistoGeneX biomarker platforms (IHC, NGS, Gene Expression, Pathology etc) and very familiar with the structure of biomarker analyses in oncology clinical trials. Experience with assay development and companion diagnostics is an advantage. Location is preferred in Naperville, IL.

This position reports to the Chief Business Officer and has the opportunity to scale and refine a highly successful business process. HistoGeneX is a global histopathology biomarker laboratory that has gained a reputation for scientific, quality and operational expertise. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate and establish interest with potential client prospects utilizing scientific rapport to present HistoGeneX programs
  • Work comfortably with a wide variety of client organization structures to identify decision makers and influencers
  • Capably interface with clients on emerging technologies and biomarker science
  • Persistently define scientific leverages to engage a client with incumbent competitors
  • Socialize client interest internally and organize HistoGeneX subject experts for teleconferences or in person sessions
  • Identify and solve critical client issues that may inhibit project award with appropriate timely communication to senior leadership
  • Prioritize, follow up and interface with the clinical operations, finance and proposal groups to secure project awards

Education and/or Experience

  • MSc/MBA degree in the health sciences with a demonstrated track of successful business development. Experience in pharma or diagnostics required
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communicator who can deliver effective presentations, consult on business improvement projects, and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a track record of initiative, personal responsibility, and ownership of work
  • The selected candidate will be positive, flexible, team-oriented, and performance-driven
  • Willingness to travel 50%
