The primary function of the Associate Director, Strategic Planning and Communications will be to manage scope, project plan, and schedule of major initiatives supportive of franchise strategic priorities. Goals of the role include: design, implement, and maintain a communication infrastructure that supports the strategic and tactical initiatives across the franchise brand, in-field teams, and Integrated Brand Team (IBT); coordinate with cross-functional partners to prioritize culture planning and professional development initiatives; pursue organizational effectiveness and accountability across functions (with a primary responsibility for the IBT); partner with the VP / GM / NSD to craft franchise action plans, implement solutions, and monitor initiatives to ensure optimal success; without direct influence, navigate competing priorities, successfully engage and influence multiple stakeholders to integrate / prioritize wide-ranging timelines and business deliverables; consistently weave franchise strategic priorities throughout franchise culture, communication, branding, and recognition platforms to foster team morale and motivation; maintain accountability for business update activities, staff meetings, launch planning, executive presentations, and other events.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Work with VP, GM, and Sales Director to coordinate and implement franchise communication plans, implementing solutions against division level initiatives to optimize morale and engagement, as well as ensure clear direction and alignment between Commercial and IBT.
  • Manage, prioritize, and coordinate communications / Master Calendar supporting sales, marketing and internal stakeholders (cross-functional support functions, IBT, etc.) for the franchise.
  • Integrate marketing, sales, and IBT strategies to enhance brand execution and ROI.
  • Work cross-functionally with Senior Management and Abbvie internal partners to create, socialize, optimize and implement commercial initiatives, including but not limited to: Town Halls, National Meetings, Award & Recognition programs, and Leadership Development.
  • Work with VP, GM, and Sales Director to deliver on key brand initiatives; help create and inform plans to present to Senior Management.
  • Foster and execute IBT launch or on-market strategy.
  • Proactively anticipate and engage with leadership in solution planning for identified franchise co-dependencies, scenario planning, strategy gaps, or operational improvements that optimize franchise business execution.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years sales / marketing / other in-house experience required
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products (e.g. CFR 210/211, cGMP) specifically, candidate should have a working knowledge of the market including trends and issues as they relate to AbbVie.
  • Pharmaceutical experience required at a level of District Manager or higher. Candidate should have advanced analytical and communication skills. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent organizational skills. Presentation skills and innovative problem solving beneficial. Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, influence and engage without direct authority. Ability to strategically examine business environment and develop/execute/prioritize in response to market opportunities will be of significant benefit.
