Value to the Intern

As a member of the Revenue Accounting team, PCYC's Accounting Intern will develop an understanding of the company's revenue recognition process, including gross-to-net reserves. The individual will learn how to analyze and validate information received from customers which is used to develop assumptions used in the gross-to-net model. The Intern will learn about the various discount programs offered by the Company, assist with validating discount claims received, and perform various projects related to the discount programs.

The Intern will develop an understanding of the monthly financial close process by assisting with various close activities, including the preparation of journal entries. The Intern will also assist with the recording for clinical studies.

The Intern's experience at PCYC will help to prepare them for a career in Finance and Accounting by providing the opportunity learn about a pharmaceutical company's revenue recognition process. In addition, the individual will gain experience through direct participation in the Company's monthly financial statement close process.

Expectations:

  • Analyze information received from the Company's customers to determine channel and demand sales by period used in determining gross-to-net assumptions
  • Perform validation checks over inventory reports received from the Company's customers (specialty pharmacy and specialty distributors)
  • Validate claims for discounts received (chargebacks) from the Company's Specialty Distributor customers
  • Perform analyses related to the Company's discount programs to explain recent trends in actual discount claims and payments
  • Assist the Accounting team in the monthly close process by preparing journal entries and internal reports needed
  • Prepare accruals for clinical studies based on information provided by the clinical team
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Complete at least one year of university studies prior to internship start date
  • Be an active student in good standing at an accredited university
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent

Final Presentation

Each Intern is expected to prepare a short presentation to their team to share what they have learned through their internship and how they hope their new knowledge will help them secure their future career. Presentations should be 10 - 15 minutes long and should include visual aid (posters or PowerPoint).
